Jasmijn is one of the characters in a story I'm still working on. The idea is that she comes from a people that are connected to a kind of plant, tree or flower at birth. Hers is the jasmin flower ('jasmijn' is the Dutch name for it). In this picture she is supposed to look dreamily while standing next to a jasmin bush. This was my first try at drawing a portrait with soft pastels and I think it turned out OK, even if she looks like she's got a black eye...

Really nice. The colours are pretty, and the skin tone is spot on. Don't worry about the eye, there's nothing wrong with it!

I think this is a beautiful piece Annika and by the way... my wife's name is Jasmin (and she's German so it's pronounced the same as the Dutch way I believe [Yaz-meen] Love the colors!

I think it turned out really good! especially for a first time portrait!! with pastels!
I think increasing the scale of the picture would have allowed you dome more detail, but otherwise! Awsome!
